We are here!

moving! ©Saskia Pekelharing, The Hague, 2014
Verhuizen...kost veel energie, geeft veel energie. Kost vooral
veel tijd.... te veel tijd om te bloggen zo bleek :(

Hier in één illustratie, in een notedop mijn omzwervingen van de laatste 7 jaar. Mooie verhalen, mooie herinneringen, mooie ontmoetingen.
Nu thuis in Den Haag. Zo voelt dat inmiddels ook weer..als thuis! mooi!

Illustration Friday: Yesterday

This weeks theme on the illustration Friday blog was Yesterday. Now I grew up living with someone with a (pretty serious) Beatles obsession. So there's no other thing I can possibly come up with when the word "yesterday" is mentioned.....
Okay, okay, and I'll admit I have somewhat of a (pretty serious) african animal obsession...

So I am afraid this little sketch was an accident just waiting to happen :D

Side stepping to graphic design...

....but still with elephants ;)

Made this invitation for a Bollywood style party at MMS school, together with graphic designer Jenni Meyer. It's fun to do something different for once.

Two magic trees

This really was a fun project: two paintings for two wonderful kids. I created these images after interviewing the two of them trying to figure out what they like, what makes them laugh, and what they would like in their painting.

That was the easy part...

After that it was clear I had to create a painting with a tiger- a shark- an  elephant- AND termites in it....only in a 5 year old mind that's the easiest thing to do ...it was a hilarious fun experience ;)

The best part...when they saw their paintings and were flat on their bellies trying to figure out the stories behind the paintings.

These pantings were auctioned off at the Spring Benefit 2012, of the Metropolitan Montessori School NY

Sailor elephant said it hurt but he did not cry

I am not sure what a regular tattoo artist could work a thick, wrinkled, sensitive skin like this. But this guinea fowl sure knows what he's doing!
